In modern American English, a shibboleth referrs to any "in-group" word or phrase that can distinguish members of a group from outsiders – even when not used by a hostile other group.
From the standpoint of an immigrant, shibbolet represents the struggle to adapt and assimilate to the new context. In Shebohlet, the word shibboleth is mispelled as it would be written in Italian. Shebohlet is also a tribute and Shebohlet by Doris Salcedo
